We are delighted to welcome the Padel Federation of Ireland as the latest sport to become part of the Sport for Business community.
With Padel courts popping up around the country this is a young sport with a bright future.
Team Ireland is currently competing with a team of 38 players and three coaches in the main draw at the Padel World Senior Championships in Alicante in Spain.
With male and female events in five year age categories from +35 to +55 it is a sport that gives the potential for representing your country to many for whom that dream may one time have been thought to have passed.
Thomas Maughan and David Wall progressed to the Round of 32 in the Men’s +45 category, as did Brian Condren and Stuart Duggen in the Men’s +40, and Declan Harrington and David Williams in the Men’s +55.
Padel is played in almost 100 countries around the world and there are an estimated 25 million active players.
In Ireland there are 11 Padel clubs already formally established, three hotels that have built courts and numerous private courts.
The Padel federation of Ireland is affiliated to the International Padel Federation and is chaired here by Naomi Nichol.
The Federation has secured sponsorship from Cupra and Sport for Business member Decathlon and we will have news next week of a new sponsor on board for the Junior side of the game.
The Padel Federation of Ireland are a full member of the Sport for Business community.
The Sport for Business Membership comprises nearly 300 organisations including all the leading sports and sponsors, commercial and state agencies.
