Galway, Ireland — 11 May 2026

The Irish Padel Tour, the official national circuit of the Padel Federation of Ireland, returned
this weekend to Project Padel Galway for the CUPRA IPT, with more than 100 players travelling
from across Ireland to compete in the latest stop of the national circuit.

Now in its second consecutive year in Galway, the event continues to grow in both
participation and visibility, with players travelling from all over the country to compete in four
different categories: Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Intermediate and Women’s
Intermediate.

The tournament reached full capacity one week before registrations officially closed, further
highlighting the strong momentum the Irish Padel Tour is experiencing this season. Events
across the circuit have consistently filled up rapidly, reflecting the continued growth of padel in
Ireland and the increasing demand for competitive tournaments nationwide.

Throughout the weekend, spectators enjoyed a fantastic atmosphere and a very high standard
of competition, with exciting matches taking place across all categories at Project Padel
Galway.

In the Men’s Open category, the title was won by Mathias Gonzalez and Andrés Martínez,
while Karen Nugent and Anna Zuka claimed victory in the Women’s Open competition. Across
the tournament, more than €1,000 in prize money was distributed among the finalists, with
each tournament winner also earning 1,000 IPT ranking points towards the national standings.

The Galway event once again demonstrated the growing scale and professionalism of the Irish
padel scene, with strong attendance, competitive matches and increasing nationwide
participation continuing to drive the sport forward.

Attention now turns to the next stop on the calendar: the CUPRA IPT MAJOR Padel 54, taking
place in Belfast on the 30th and 31st of May. As one of only four Major events on the Irish
Padel Tour calendar, the tournament will offer some of the highest ranking points and prize
money of the season. With more than 200 players expected to participate, organisers
anticipate that registrations will once again fill up very quickly for one of the most anticipated
tournaments of the year
