Selection Guide
How to join the Ireland National Padel Team pathway.
A clear guide to eligibility, declaration of interest, evaluation, selection criteria, and National Squad inclusion, through to final team selection.
Players must meet Irish, PFI, and FIP requirements.
The PFI selection policy and FIP eligibility regulations sit together: players need Irish representation eligibility, registration through the recognised national structure, and good standing under applicable rules.
Nationality and representation
Players must hold Irish representation eligibility and meet FIP country-representation rules, including previous-representation limits.
Age category
Players must fit the relevant Open, Senior, or Junior category for the competition year and event rules.
Registration or licence
Players must hold an active registration or licence recognised by Padel Federation Ireland and FIP where required.
Good standing
Players must not be under relevant suspension, disciplinary sanction, anti-doping sanction, or integrity sanction.
Selection criteria
Selection is wider than one ranking position.
PFI selection may consider FIP-sanctioned event results, Irish national competitions such as IPT, European or World Championship performances, and other relevant PFI or FIP sanctioned domestic or international events.
Selectors may also consider current form, consistency, professionalism, preparation, team contribution, physical fitness, behaviour during previous representation or competitions, and other factors relevant to team success.
Competition evidence and rankings matter, but are not the only selection factor.
Professionalism, preparation, conduct, and fitness are part of the pathway.
Selection is a team-performance decision for a specific event and category.
From interest to international representation.
