Padel Forward Initiative 2024

PFI describes the Padel Forward Initiative as a six-month Erasmus+ project under the KA182-SPO mobility of sport staff action, running from May to October 2024.

The project involved eight staff members undertaking international mobility activities in Spain, with job shadowing and coaching assignments designed to build skills, experience, and international connections.

  • Four participants in job shadowing across Spanish clubs and federations.
  • Four participants in coaching assignments in Spain.
  • Goals around staff capacity, coaching methods, player development, and partnerships.
  • Learning from more developed padel systems and bringing that knowledge back to Ireland.

Pathway to Brisbane 2032

PFI public material also describes Pathway to Brisbane 2032 as a long-term junior performance pathway that aims to strengthen Ireland's player and coaching pipeline.

The 2025 Erasmus+ funded mobility project includes coaching assignments and job-shadowing experiences so Irish coaches and programme leads can learn from junior padel systems in Spain.

  • Build clearer progression routes for juniors.
  • Improve coaching support and session design.
  • Translate international learning into Irish clubs, academies, hubs, and junior competition opportunities.
